John Lewis Victoria Gate, Leeds

Historically our directors played a key historical role in delivering 23,000 square metres of retail space for John Lewis as part of the Victoria Gate development in Leeds. Clear communication was critical throughout the project—between the project team, the various brands occupying the space, and the local community.

Victoria Gate introduced an additional 42,000 square metres of retail and leisure space, along with a multi-storey car park, significantly enhancing the retail offering in Leeds. The development brought a number of well-known retailers to the city for the first time, with John Lewis acting as the anchor tenant.

This was the first major project our directors were involved in with John Lewis. Working collaboratively with their professional team, they helped shape the scheme through the design and pricing stages, continuously adapting plans to find the most effective solutions.

The store spans five sales floors, two basement levels, and a rooftop area. The 30-week programme was delivered through phased handovers, the most critical of which came at week 22, when the space was passed to the shopfitters to begin the detailed fit-out of the various concession areas within the store.
